A few years ago, while traveling for business, I found myself in an airport lounge in Stockholm, Sweden reading the words of Chip Gaines, “I told myself that I was going to live the rest of my life as if it were Saturday,” The Magnolia Story. The idea really resonated with me. I had a successful career in business, but at that time, my husband and I were also starting in investment real estate.

I travelled a lot for work and when I came home, we worked on our houses. To many, it seemed like we worked all the time, but I LOVED it. For me, Saturdays meant days together with my family working with my hands to provide others with a safe, comfortable place to live. At that time, we had bought a couple foreclosure properties and were so proud to take a house coated with the smell of abandonment and give it new life.

As our property portfolio expanded, I knew it was the right time to turn my passion into a profession. Being a real estate professional invigorates me! I have always loved meeting and working with new people and feel so fortunate that I am able to live every day like it is Saturday! (remember, that means I work every day!)

What I love about real estate:

  1. History: I love historical buildings and learning about houses’ pasts
  2. Helping others: I try every day to make someone else’s day easier by being the best person I can be.
  3. No two days are the same: I am constantly on the move and even when I think I know what the day will bring, something new always appears!
  4. Learning: Real estate is an ever-changing market and I am constantly learning something new through collaboration with other professionals and formal learning opportunities.
