Local Selling Tips

10 Tips for Selling Your House

  1. Declutter is always the #1 suggestion when selling your home. Cleaning out and organizing your pantries and closets will help storage to appear ample.

  2. Remove unnecessary furniture. Either put furniture in storage or donate/sell any unwanted items. This will make rooms appear larger and allow potential buyers the ability to visualize their own furniture in the room.

  3. Take down personal items. Remove family pictures or other personal décor items to allow potential buyers to visualize their own pieces in the space.

  4. First impressions matter! Keep up your curb appeal by ensuring grass is trim and shrubbery and garden beds are maintained. Spread some fresh much and put potted plants or flowers out on a front porch or by the entrance.

  5. Deep clean your house. Have your house professionally cleaned and keep it up! No matter the age of your house, it is new to any buyer. They want the house to feel new! If you have pets, make sure that any unpleasant odors are taken care of.

  6. Paint any brightly colored rooms a neutral tone or white. Touch up trim and baseboard paint.

  7. Check items off the to-do list. Buyers do not want to see a to-do list ahead of them and some repairs may be brought up during inspections as well. Best to fix any leaky pipes now!

  8. Replace kitchen and bathroom faucets. New fixtures need not be expensive, but small upgrades to clean, new faucets will spruce up the appearance of your bathrooms and kitchen.

  9. Before any showings, make sure beds are made.

  10. Before any showings, put out fresh flowers.
